Melgar, Tolima

Last week a good friend from Costa Rica came to visit us here in Bogotá. The weather has not been too good the last weeks- a lot of rain and low temperatures. In order to show our friend something else, and to enjoy a warmer climate we rented a small apartment in Melgar, Tolima.  Melgar is located in the Sumapaz River Valley, around 2-3 hours with bus from Bogotá. Compared to Guaduas where we spent the Easter weekend Melgar was much more worth visiting. The town was small, but had a good vibe, a small fruit market and a vibrant square, and best of all; we were able to use the swimming pool that belonged to the apartment building. Our friend is returning to Costa Rica tomorrow and we have slowly started to organize and pack our things. Our flight for Cartagena and the coast leave early on Tuesday morning next week and we will spend two weeks along the coast before we return to Bogotá for our flight to Lima, Peru in the Beginning of May.
