We are since a few weeks back in Bogotá and we aim to stay here for another couple of months. We are slowly getting settled into a new routine. Something that we have really missed. Even if travelling is amazing it is also hard. You are living from day to day, experiencing great freedom but also a lot of uncertainty, and after a while all the amazing landscapes that you see are not so impressive any more. The senses are drenched and can just not take any more beauty- so everything ends up looking a bit the same. A sensory overload.
So we have decided to take a break in order to be able to really comprehend what we have experienced the last months, but also to really get to know a new country and a new culture. So, at the moment we are exploring Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, located 2600 masl in the Andes. And it is not less exiting than being on the road. It is a city of great contrasts- during a 60 minute walk it seems like you pass through several dimensions, people of all walks of life, mixed into some kind of inferno that seems to be so surreal but still make so much sense at one time.
So, the next month’s updates will be from Bogotá and its surroundings. I am taking some photography courses at an art school and my boyfriend is working on a project of his. Hence, we are more than alive- we have just slowed down our pace and have settled into a new type of daily day, in one of the biggest cities in South America.
